Rachael Ellen Carter, 67, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, June 7, 2024, at Winchester Medical Center.
Rachael was born in 1956 in Winchester, VA, the daughter of Ray Alfred Carter and the late Margaret Virginia (Elliott) Carter. Rachael lived a life marked by dedication to her family, friends and faith.
Rachael is survived by her son, Mike Nail, his wife Elizabeth, and her granddaughter Emmaline. She is also survived by her sister Roxanne Shillingburg (Lewis); brothers, Ronnie Carter (Libby), Dana Carter; a special niece, Beth Baker (Jimmy); numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, her companion, J.C. Black and his children, Tom, Kristin and Garth and their families.
A devoted member of Open Door Baptist Church, Rachael’s faith was the cornerstone of her life. She worked for over 30 years at the Blue Collar Mercantile (formerly Working Man’s Store) in Winchester, earning the respect and admiration from her colleagues.
Rachael had the biggest heart and never knew a stranger. She was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. In her lifetime, Rachael enjoyed traveling, horseback riding, painting, motorcycling riding, attending car events and cooking (especially for her Daddy). One of her biggest joys was spending time with her granddaughter, Emmaline, and her grandpups.
A visitation will be held for Rachael on Sunday, June 16, 2024, from 6pm to 8pm at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel. Interment will be private.
