R. Jean Duvall
Rachel “Jean” Duvall, 89, of Winchester, Virginia, died Wednesday, January 27, 2010, at The Willows at Meadow Branch.
Miss Duvall was born in 1921, in Frederick County, Virginia, the daughter of the late Roy P. and Mamie N. Duvall. She was a retired scheduler with the IRS in the United States Department of the Treasury. Miss Duvall was an active member of the Burnt Factory United Methodist Church, Church Choir, Local and District Officer of the United Methodist Women and past Youth Director. She was past Secretary on the Nominating Committee of the United Methodist Church and a C-CAP Volunteer. Miss Duvall was a graduate of John Handley High School. She was an avid bowler, golfer and gardener. She was devoted to her Lord, her church and her family.
Surviving are two sisters, Catherine Douglas Swimley of Winchester, Virginia, Betty Duvall Livengood of Berryville, Virginia; three brothers, John W. “Jack” Duvall, Louis C. Duvall and Robert W. Duvall all of Winchester, Virginia, and many nieces and nephews.
Three sisters, Margaret Duvall, Frances Fishpaw, Dorothy Duvall and seven brothers, Ferman, Charles, Reginald, Donald, Weeden, Braxton and Richard Duvall preceded her in death.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Saturday at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel, with Pastor Steve Melester officiating. Interment will be in Mount Hebron Cemetery, Winchester, Virginia.
Pallbearers will be Miss Duvall’s nephews, Perry Duvall, Billy Swimley, Jerry Swimley, Dick Duvall, Tom Duvall, Charles Duvall, Don Duvall, David Duvall, Greg Duvall and Mark Duvall.
The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 6:00-8:00 PM at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.
