Phyllis J. Shannon
Mrs. Phyllis Jean Shannon, age 89, of Winchester, VA, died Thursday, May 10, 2012, at Winchester Medical Center.
Mrs. Shannon was born in 1923 in Birmingham, AL, the daughter of the late Ernest and Ellen Harlow. She was employed as secretary with the D.C. Government. She was a member of Macedonia United Methodist Church. Phyllis was a unique and loving person who will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Phyllis had a passion for spending time with her family, traveling, completing puzzles and crocheting.
She is survived by a daughter, Diane LaClair and husband, Donald of Stephens City, VA; two grandchildren; Sean LaClair and his wife Colleen of McLean, Virginia, Amy LaClair-Parsell and her husband Stan of Stephens City, Virginia; three great grandchildren, Whitley and Niquole Rose Parsell, Brian Chegini; two brothers, Robert Harlow and wife, Eileen of Knoxville, TN and William Harlow and wife, Joan of Annandale, VA; and a sister, Eleanor Miller of Winchester.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Ernest Harlow, Jr. and James Harlow, and a sister, Judy Harlow.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, May 15, at Macedonia United Methodist Church with Pastor Jason Duley officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
A graveside service will be conducted at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, May 16, at Mt. Comfort Cemetery, Alexandria, VA.
Memorial contributions in her memory may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
