Phyllis Ann Whitlock

        Heaven became even a much better place on May 5, 2014, when God called yet another angel home.

Mrs. Whitlock was born in 1937, in Winchester, Virginia, the daughter of the late Thomas and Mary Bell Knighting.  She was retired from Crown Cork & Seal.

Surviving her are four children, Teresa Lynn Rogers and companion, Larry Kirby; Sharon Ann Russell; Jeffrey Wilson Whitlock and wife, Brenda Whitlock and Tammy Sue Funkhouser and husband, Stephen Gary Funkhouser.  Also surviving are her sisters, Betty Melton, Shirley Tomblin and Kay Brill and husband, Nevin Brill.  She was preceded in death by her sister, Patricia Knighting, she was also preceded in death by numerous brothers-in-law, who’s company she enjoyed tremendously.

Mrs. Whitlock not only lived for her four children, but her love for her grandchildren was unmatched.  Surviving are David Russell II, Derick Russell, Dustin Russell, Jeremy Whitlock and Jesse Whitlock.  She was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Lindsey Delozier.  She also leaves behind great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and friends who all loved and will miss her dearly.

She will be remembered for many things, but mostly for being the life of the party, her love of country and gospel music was unwavering.  She will be remembered by many for her contagious laughter and wit.

The family will receive friends on Friday, prior to the service, from 9:00-11:00 AM at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Friday, at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel with Pastor Gene Jones officiating.  Interment will be in Shenandoah Memorial Park, Frederick County, Virginia. A reception will follow at Banquet Hall, Stephens City Moose Lodge, Stephens City, Virginia.

Pallbearers will be David Russell II, Derek Russell, Dustin Russell, Jeremy Whitlock, Jesse Whitlock and J. D. Tomblin.

Honorary pallbearers will be Nevin Brill, Tony Growden and Donnie Garrett.
