Philip Verne Green, Jr.

Mr. Philip Verne Green, Jr, age 27, of Winchester, VA, died Wednesday, May 2, 2012, in Leesburg, VA. Mr. Green was born in 1984 in Dekalb, IL, the son of Philip Verne Green, Sr. and Shirley Green-Talaeferd. He was employed by CACI as a US Government contractor in Ashburn, VA. He was of the Christian faith. He was a veteran, having served as E-6 with the U. S. Army.

Mr. Green served two tours in Iraq and was honorably discharged in 2010. He was a giving, hard-working man who provided well for his family. He was an avid video gamer and loved to watch ESPN Sports Channel.

He married Johana Green on March 2, 2006 in North Carolina.

Surviving with his wife and parents are three daughter, Rachel Evans, Leah Evans, and Lisa Mae Green, all of Winchester; a son, Rolan Verne Green of Winchester, and two sisters, Allison Brown of Berwyn, IL and Philicia Green of Chicago, IL.

A funeral service will be conducted at 10:00 A.M. on Thursday, May 10, at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel, with Reverend Larry Walters officiating. Interment will be in Culpeper National Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 9, from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel.

I am a friend of Shannon Donley's who is the other man who died. I want to give you my sincerest heart felt sympathy for your loss. We don't understand the reason for us to lose two dear men, but GOD chose to call them home. Please accept my sincerest sympathy. I know first-hand the feeling of losing a loved one all too soon because I have been there on several occasions. What comforted me at that time were the words and action of Jesus Christ who promises a resurrection of all those in the memorial tombs.
