Paul W. Boyd, 76, of Gerrardstown, West Virginia passed away Thursday, July 20, 2017 at University of Virginia Hospital.
Mr. Boyd was born in 1941 in Gerrardstown, West Virginia, the son of the late John Alen and Frances Boyd. He was employed and retired from Gerrardstown Elementary School where he was a custodial supervisor. Mr. Boyd enjoyed having coffee with “the guys” and tinkering with anything, especially refinishing antique furniture. He was an avid Nationals baseball fan and loved NASCAR. Mr. Boyd took great pride in the family home and enjoyed being outside working around the house. Paul loved his John Deere tractor. He had many, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren that he loved dearly, as well as his feline companion, Eli. Mr. Boyd attended Emmanuel Baptist Church in Frederick County, Virginia. For the last 40 years, Paul was the caretaker of Gerrardstown Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
Mr. Boyd married Loretta Boyd on June 25, 2004 in Gerrardstown, West Virginia. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Virginia Boyd.
Surviving with his beloved wife of 13 years are daughters, Martha “Marty” Kisner (James) of Bunker Hill, West Virginia, Teresa Boyd and Marcia Boyd both of Gerrardstown, West Virginia; sons, Dennis Boyd (Sally) of Inwood, West Virginia, Stephen Boyd of Shanghai, West Virginia, and Robert Boyd of Gerrardstown, West Virginia; step-daughters, Jill Fleming (James) of Stephens City, Virginia and Kathie Liller (Dana) of Germantown, Maryland; step-son, Michael “Shawn” Snodderly of Hagerstown, Maryland; sisters, Janet and Sharon Boyd, Joyce (Curtis) Braithwaite, all of Inwood, West Virginia; many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Mr. Boyd was preceded in death by a sister, Charlotte Boyd, brother, James “Jim” Boyd, and his cat, Eli.
The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Monday at Emmanuel Baptist Church, 2774 Northwestern Pike, Winchester, Virginia.
A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. following the visitation with Pastor Steve Rebert officiating.
