Paul Joseph Harrington

Paul Joseph Harrington, 55, of Stephens City, Virginia and Brunswick, Maine, died Thursday, June 30, 2011, at his home.

Mr. Harrington was born in 1956, in Teaneck, New Jersey, the son of Helen Harrington and the late Daniel Harrington. He was a Physician’s Assistant with Mountain State Ear, Nose and Throat in Martinsburg, West Virginia. Mr. Harrington was a member of St. Charles Catholic Church in Brunswick, Maine. He was a graduate of the University of New England, Class of 1998, where he received a Masters Degree as a Physician’s Assistant. He was a Veteran having served in the United States Air Force. Paul’s most proud accomplishment was his family.

He married Mary Catherine Harrington on December 30, 1978, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Oakland, New Jersey.

Surviving with his mother of Oakland, New Jersey, and his wife, are his daughters, Catherine Anne Harrington and her significant other, Robert Jonathan Henley of Seattle, Washington, Annie Maureen Harrington and her significant other, Brian Michael Ziff-Levine, of New York, New York, Mary Theresa Harrington and her significant other, Graham Siegfried of Stephens City, Virginia; two sisters, Mary Louise Harrington of Bloomingdale, New Jersey, Anne Catherine Harrington of New Milford, New Jersey; one brother, Anthony Victor Harrington and his partner, Patrick Flynn, of Maplewood, New Jersey; and his faithful companion, Chloe.

A Memorial Mass will be conducted at San Damiano Spiritual Life Center, 125 Old Kitchen Rd, White Post, VA on Monday, July 4 at 2:00 P.M. A reception at the Harrington home will follow. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, July 9 at St. Charles Catholic Church, 132 McKeen St., Brunswick, Maine at 11:00 A.M. A reception at the church will follow.

Arrangements are being handled by Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.

Dear MaryCay and girls, I am so sorry for the loss and the grief you are experiencing. Words are of little comfort but know that my thoughts and prayers are with you. Dear Mary Cay & Family: I am so shocked and saddened to hear of Paul's passing...He was such a special person, full of energy & warmth & genuine care & concern for everyone....I was honored to have known & worked with him the little time that I did.....And I believe God certainly has a special place for him in Heaven....He was much too young to die...But we will see him again soon when our Dear Saviour comes back to take all who love Him back to Heaven with Him...What a Blessed Reunion that will be!!

Dear Mary Cay, I don't know if you remember me but I used to work with you at Smith's Tax Service. I am so sorry to hear of your husband's passing. My heart goes out to you and your family. I remember you always speaking highly of Paul and it was clear to all how much you loved him and your family. I remember you telling me how he used to do special things at Christmas for your two older girls (the twinkling lights along with a story about them)...although I can't remember the entire story, it touched me because it seemed so nice that he would do something so magical for his girls. Mary Cay, Catherine, Annie,&Mary, My deepest condolences.Paul was the epitome of a great father.Sharing time during his haircuts was always a pleasure.I was so excited to hear recently that " the Harringtons " were moving back home to Me. Paul had a very good sense of humor,since guys are so sensitive about "baldness". I always reminded Paul that it wasn't how much I cut off, but how much I left on that was important.I also pointed out that grass never grows on a playground. He will be deeply missed. Paul, I am going to miss you, your big heart and smile and that personality of humor. I will always remember the great stories you would tell me about your family and the sparkel in your eyes while talking about them. I know they know what an amazing person you are and will always be. I recall recruiting Paul from Maine in I believe 2004. I was so happy to have a PA of Paul's moral character and skill. I have thought of Paul and his family many times since he left Urgent Care because we had children of the same age who were experiencing similar life experiences.
