Paul H. “Papa” Strosnider
Paul Harrison Strosnider, 91, of Stephens City, Virginia, died Wednesday, October 24, 2012, in his home.
Mr. Strosnider was born in 1921, in Kernstown, Virginia, the son of the late Robert N. and Cora Strosnider. He was a Veteran of World War II having served in the US Army Anti-Tank Company, 120th Infantry 30th Division during D-Day and the Battle of the Bulge. He achieved the rank of PFC and was a recipient of the Purple Heart and the European African Middle Eastern Service Ribbon with five stars. Mr. Strosnider retired from ABEX Corporation after 31 years of service. He later was employed as a courier for F&M Bank serving for 8 years.
Mr. Strosnider was a member of Valley Assembly of God; a lifetime member of DAV, VFW and former member of UAW. He was affiliated with Club House Sports in Stephens City. Mr. Strosnider was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was also a dedicated Sunday School Teacher and a member of the Endurers gospel singing group. He was loved and very highly respected by his children and grandchildren.
He married Juanita “Neda” Vincent on September 7, 1945, in Winchester, Virginia.
Surviving with his dedicated wife of 67 years is a son, P. Gary Strosnider and wife, Vickie, of Maurertown, Virginia, a daughter, Bonnie S. Cox and husband, Mike, of Jacksonville, Florida; five grandchildren, Tealah Bryant, Tarah Wilson, Veronica Zimmerman, Jeffrey Strosnider, Tashah Davis; great grandchildren, Lindsay Bryant, Lauren Wilson, Sierra Strosnider, Sterling Zimmerman, Lance Bryant, Tyler Strosnider, Landon and Sophia Zimmerman; sister, Hopewell S. Fishel of Winchester and brothers, Robert Strosnider of Michigan, Clifton Strosnider of Winchester and Harold “Buddy” Strosnider of Middletown, Virginia.
Four sisters, Pauline S, Pangle, Nellie S. Golightly, Eunice S. McDonald and Helen S. Payton, preceded him in death.
The family will receive friends on Friday evening, from 6:00-8:00 PM, at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel, 1260 Front Royal Pike, Winchester, VA 22602.
A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 PM on Saturday, at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel, with Reverend Glenn Welch officiating. Interment will be in Shenandoah Memorial Park, Frederick County, Virginia.
