Paul Harrison Baker, age 73, passed away at the Winchester Medical Center on Saturday, July 15, 2017 after a long battle with Parkinson’s Disease and Dementia.
Born in Washington, D.C. to Harrison and Kay Baker, he lived in many states. After graduation from the University of Utah with a degree in Civil Engineering he worked for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers for 32 years. His job took him and his family to Alaska, Germany, Saudi Arabia and Virginia.
Paul is survived by his wife, Kaleen, of 49 years, two daughters: Laura Baker-Anderle and husband, Keith, of Winchester, VA; Janeen Witt and husband, Steve, of Stephens City, VA; two sons: David Baker and wife, Mandy, of Greencastle, PA; Daniel Baker and wife, Melissa, of Winchester, VA; and 11 grandchildren. Also surviving him are his three brothers: Al Baker and wife, Diane, of Redmond, OR; Craig Baker and wife, Susan, of Salt Lake City, Utah; and Kurt Baker and wife, Kim, of Portland, OR. He is also survived by one aunt, Carolyn Radford, of Detroit, MI., numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
Paul enjoyed playing bridge, bowling, golfing, dancing and traveling. Following his retirement in 2002, he and his wife golfed in all 50 states. He was an Eagle Scout and was a scout leader during his sons’ journey to Eagle Scout status. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and attended Sacred Heart of Jesus Church. He was a devoted husband and a true family man. He loved having his children and grandchildren visit always offering good advice and a helping hand.
A funeral Mass will be offered by his brother-in-law, Fr. Daniel Petsche O.S.B. on Friday, July 28 at 10 AM at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, Winchester, VA followed by a lunch reception in Muldowney Hall at the church.
