On November 2, 2023, Paul A. Holly of Virginia Beach died peacefully under hospice care joining his beloved wife, Rita, less than four months after she passed away. He was 83 years old.
Paul was born in Chicago, IL, on January 16,1940 to Paul F. and Clara (Giese) Holly. Paul was the eldest of their three sons and always had an extremely close relationship with his brothers. After the untimely passing of his youngest brother, Brian, Paul and his brother, Bruce, continued to have a very close bond. Over the past few years their visits became less frequent but, Paul always looked forward to Bruce’s weekly phone call.
Paul graduated from Southern Illinois University and had a successful career as a salesman in Wisconsin for many years.
Paul had a love for motorcycles, and not just any motorcycle- Paul loved his Harley Davidson’s. Every year, for many years, he’d go traveling on long distance motorcycle excursions with his brothers and created sweet memories as they traversed North America. Paul always had a great story to tell or a hilarious joke to share about his travels.
In 1983, Paul and Rita reunited at a Morgan Park High School class reunion. They had a yearlong, long-distance courtship before Paul took the leap and moved to Virginia. They were married on July 7, 1984.
After moving to Winchester, Paul worked for Quaker State Oil for a few years and then briefly retired. Paul returned to work in 1993 at Triad Engineering as the Business Management and Marketing Development Representative. He worked there until 2002.
After retiring, Paul made more memories going on more motorcycle trips with Bruce, traveling with Rita to various destinations (sans the motorcycle) in the US and abroad, spending winters in Florida, and always enjoyed entertaining friends and family at the lake and in Florida. He truly was such an entertainer and thrived on being social.
Paul was predeceased by his wife, Rita, parents, Clara and Paul F. Holly, his aunt, Evelyn Miller and his youngest brother, Brian Holly.
Paul is survived by Tracey (Holly) and Daniel Huebner, Robin (Holly) Keough, Lynda Perry, Mark Perry, Christine (Perry) Healy, John Perry, Franklin Wistl, Jack Huebner, Henry Huebner, Nicholas Huebner, Karma (Charlotte) Perry, Isaac Perry, Bruce Holly, nieces, nephews, and friends.
A joint Celebration of Life will be held at Omps Funeral Home (Amherst) for Paul and Rita in Winchester, Virginia on June 1, 2024, from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to your local hospice.
