They loved to travel and for many years the highlight of each Autumn was vacationing in Clearwater Florida. They made many friends while there, especially Ann and Tommy Stephens. David passed July 13, 2005.
Patsy was an employee of the Northern Virginia Daily, having worked as bureau secretary, receptionist, and writer of social news items for 55 years in its Winchester news bureau. In June 2006, the Virginia Press Association honored her service by inducting her into its Golden 50 Club, an award presented for 50 or more years of service in the field of journalism. She was one of twelve newspaper professionals and the only woman to be honored in the association’s annual meeting that year. She retired in 2008. She had lots of stories to tell and during her years there she made many special lifelong devoted friends considering them as her extended family.
She loved music, having inherited her musical gift from her late mother, who was a piano teacher. She loved to drive and dreamed of taking a lap in a NASCAR racecar.
Patsy was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church on Back Mountain Road.
In addition to her parents and husband, Patsy is preceded in death by her nieces, Margaret Ann Hicks, Sandra Kay English and Veronica Sue Orndorff.
