Patrick J. Hutchins

Mr. Patrick James “Pat” Hutchins, age 53, of Winchester, VA, died Thursday, March 22, 2012, at his residence. Mr. Hutchins was born in 1958 in Columbus, Ohio, the son of the Late James Samuel and Lillian Carolyn Hutchins. He was a writer and had written a children’s book about the Civil War. He was also an artist who did many of the illustrations for his books. He loved history, especially military history, and classical music. He loved his family and his dogs.

Mr. Hutchins was a Cum Laude graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts. He was a member of Sykes Regulars, a Civil War re-enactment group.

He married Sally Ann Gustafson on December 19, 1987, in Washington, DC.

Surviving with his wife is a daughter, Katherine Sarah Hutchins of Winchester, VA, and two brothers, Michael Edward Hutchins and wife, Cynthia, of Atlanta, GA and Robert David Hutchins of Columbus, OH.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, March 27, at Mt. Hebron Cemetery with Rev. Dr. David N. Young officiating.

I had spent many of fun times in life with Pat and have always enjoyed talking with him.
