Patricia F. Hayes and Joseph T. P. Hayes
Patricia Frances Marz Hayes, 75, died June 18, 2011 and Joseph Thomas Pope Hayes, 77, died June 22, 2011, in Winchester Medical Center.
Mrs. Hayes was born in Flushing, New York, the daughter of the late George and Frances Marz. She was a beloved teacher and mentor at Grafton School in Berryville, retiring in 1990 after 25 years of service. Mrs. Hayes was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church and an active member in Catholic Charities.
Mr. Hayes was born in 1934, in Manhattan, New York, the son of the late Michael P. and Mary Hayes. Mr. Hayes was a lineman with AT&T and C&P Telephone Companies. He was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church. He was very active in the Boy Scouts and was an Eagle Scout.
Patricia and Joseph were married on June 29, 1957, in Flushing, New York. Together, they loved fishing, going to the beach, family activities and were very devoted to their entire family.
Surviving are their children, Veronica “Ronnie” Zito and her husband, Pepe, of Amissvile, Virginia, Thomas Joseph Hayes and his wife, Jayne, of Stephens City, Virginia, Diane Mary Crosby and her husband, Gersham, and Wendy A. Crim and her husband, Jaime, all of Winchester., Virginia; four grandchildren, Caitlin Hayes, Adam Crosby, Tyler Crim and Dylan Crosby; and her sister, Joyce Chanda and her husband, John, of Long Island, New York.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Saturday at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church with Father Stanley J. Krempa officiating. Interment will be private
The family will receive friends for a Celebration of Life at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel on Saturday from 1:00-3:00 PM.
