Patricia “Pat” Anne (Cahill) Godding, age 90, passed away peacefully June 1, 2026, in the Blue Ridge Care Center in Winchester VA. Pat was born to Leroy F and Martha A (Stine) Cahill in Winchester VA, in the very same hospital that later became the Blue Ridge Care Center. Pat graduated from Handley High School, Class of 1954, and attended Longwood University in Farmville, VA. She was a member of the Zeta Tau Alpha Sorority.
She worked on Capitol Hill for many years, managing two U.S. House of Representatives’ offices and traveling with them during campaigns. This experience fueled her lifelong interest in politics. After moving back to Winchester to be closer to family she worked as an executive secretary for the O’Sullivan Corporation.
Pat was always an avid Washington Commanders fan (forever the Redskins to her). She was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church and served in the choir and on the church council. Pat performed in many Broadway plays that were done in the local community theater, and wherever there was music she could be found dancing. Full of life, she was known for her kind listening ear, quick wit, generosity, faith in Jesus, and her beauty both inside and out.
Pat was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Martha C. Ritchie, her son Frank Lindberg Jr., her daughter Eileen Kitchick, and her husband Talmar Godding.
Pat is survived by 3 grandchildren, Winter, Holly and Frankie, and 3 great grandchildren, Alaska, Tommy, and Todd, her niece Mary Beth Rexrode, and by so many who love her, especially Larry Hughes, her loving and devoted companion, and her feline sidekick Tucker. She will also be deeply missed by her many friends at Trinity Lutheran Church and the Senior Center both in Stephens City, VA.
A memorial service to celebrate Pat’s life will be held on Saturday, July 25, 2026 at 11:00 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 810 Fairfax Street, Stephens City, VA. A reception will follow in the parish hall. For anyone who cannot attend the service, it will be live streamed (and stored for future viewing) at :https://www.facebook.com/trinitylutheranchurchstephenscityva/live/ (If you do not have Facebook, just Exit the sign in box.)
