Owen Pittman Johnston, Jr., 77, of Winchester, VA, passed away on Wednesday, March 6, 2024, peacefully at his home.

Owen was born in 1946 in Charles Town, WV, the son of the late Owen Pittman Johnston, Sr. and Emily P. (Armstrong) Owens. He was a graduate of Charles Town High School and served our country in the Vietnam War in the United States Army. He retired in 2006 as a mortgage broker for Shenandoah Valley Mortgage. Owen was a life member of VFW Post 9760, DAV Stonewall Jackson #9, and the Vietnam Veterans Chapter 1019. He was also a charter member of AmVets Post 18, the National Army Security Agency Assoc. and American Legion Post 21 where he was former Commander and service officer. Owen was known for proudly helping his fellow legionnaire brothers and sisters. Owen was also a member of Moose Lodge 1283 and Elks Lodge 867.

He is survived by his wife, Chrystal Lynn, whom he married in 2017, daughter, Jennifer Lynn Hess; grandchildren, Andrew Hess and Mackenzie Randlett and great-grandchild, Wynter Hess.

Along with his parents, Owen is preceded in death by his son, Owen Thomas Johnston, stepfather, Thomas E. Owens; sisters, Linda Rebecca Blatzer and Barbara Pierson and brother, Kevin Milton Johnston.

A graveside service will be held for Owen on Saturday, March 23, 2024 at 11am in Pleasant View Memorial Gardens in Martinsburg, WV.
