Orlando Rainey, 64, of Winchester, VA, passed away on Tuesday, January 23, 2024, at his home.
Orlando was born in 1959 in Philadelphia, PA, the son of Annie Belle Rainey and the late Charles Ellis Rainey, Sr. He earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Delaware and worked as a chemical engineer for Axalta (formerly Dupont). In college he was a member of Alpha Pi Alpha fraternity. Orlando was a member of the French Horn Society an instrument he not only played but also taught. He played with the Cheery Hill Symphony Orchestra and also played other brass instruments during his lifetime. He loved comic books, and his favorite band was Parliament Funkadelic. Orlando was an avid Eagles football fan.
He married Patricia A. Davis on November 25, 1994, in Elkton, MD. She preceded him in death on July 6, 2021.
Orlando is survived by his daughters, Sena Rainey, Shawna Aschmies (Scott); sons, Orlando “Landy” Rainey, Jr., Gordon Davis-Thompson; grandson, Sterling Aschmies; sister, Patricia Watkins (Charles); brother, Charles Rainey, Jr. (Paula) and nieces, Angela and Kea.
A visitation will be held for Orlando on Thursday, February 1, 2024, at 10:30 am with a service to follow at 11am, held at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel. Interment will be in Shenandoah Memorial Park. Officiating will be Pastor Alan Morrison.
