Norris Eugene “Buck” Bean, 90, of Winchester, Virginia, died Wednesday, September 9, 2015, at his home.
Mr. Bean was born in 1925, in Keyser, West Virginia, the son of the late Arthur L., Sr. and Viola Bean. He was a veteran having served in the United States Marine Corps during World War II and Korea, then went on to serve in the United States Army during Vietnam. He achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant and retired from the military in 1968. After retirement, Mr. Bean was a cabinet maker for Fleetwood Travel Trailers, retiring again in 1988.
Mr. Bean was a member of various VFW groups and American Legion groups. He enjoyed sports, especially the Baltimore Orioles and Redskins, was an avid collector of coins and baseball cards. Mr. Bean was a dedicated family man who loved to cook, loved his country and the Winchester Area. His greatest joy in life was spending time with his family and grandchildren. He was a unique, hardworking, “one of a kind” person who thought of others before himself.
He married Linda Kay Snyder in 1971, in Winchester, Virginia.
Surviving with his wife are his sons, Christopher Michael Bean (Tina), Gregory Eugene Bean (Tonya), Brian Allen Bean, all of Winchester; daughter, Petra Fehrenz of Germany; grandchildren, Michael and Katelyn Bean; sisters, Betty Kitzmiller of Cumberland, Maryland and Norma Bean Welton of Oldtown, Maryland and brother, Marvin A. Bean of Ohio.
Two brothers, Arthur L., Jr. and Ronald W. Bean, preceded him in death.
The family will receive friends on Monday, from 6:00-8:00 PM, at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 PM, on Tuesday, at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel, with Pastor Dennis Sandretzky officiating. Interment will be in Mount Hebron Cemetery, Winchester, Virginia.
Pallbearers will be Greg Bean, Mike Bean, Michael Bean, Charlie Currington, Ronnie Currington and George Turner.
