Norman L. “Big John” Johnson, Sr.
Norman Lee Johnson, Sr. 79, of Frederick County, Virginia, died Wednesday, January 23, 2013, in his home.
Mr. Johnson was born in 1933, in Washington, D.C., the son of the late Castel and Maude Johnson. He was the owner and operator of a Janitorial Cleaning Service. Mr. Johnson attended Winchester Church of God in Frederick County. Big John commonly known as BJ was a dedicated family man, he will be remembered for his loving heart and hard work. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
He was married to the former Debra Booher for 32 years.
His first wife, Julia Johnson, preceded him in death.
Surviving are three daughters, Norma Johnson of Baltimore, Maryland, Amy Oteyza and husband, Jamie, of Ashburn, Virginia; Lisa Payne and husband, Michael “Brett”, of Front Royal, Virginia; two sons, Norman Johnson, Jr., and wife, Debbie, of Winchester and Larry White of Frederick, Maryland; 8 grandchildren; and 1 great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by 5 sisters and 1 brother.
The family will receive friends on Monday, prior to the service, from 10:00 – 11:00 AM, at Winchester Church of God.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Monday, at Winchester Church of God with Reverend Darrell Waller officiating. Interment will be in Shenandoah Memorial Park, Frederick County, Virginia.
Arrangements are being handled by Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.
