Norman J. “Tetman” Marcotte
Norman Joseph “Tetman” Marcotte, 73, of Gore, Virginia, died Thursday, April 7, 2016, at his home.
Mr. Marcotte was born in 1942, in Claremont, New Hampshire, the son of the late Lucille and Roland Marcotte. He attended Bentley College in Boston, Massachusetts. Mr. Marcotte was a retired Financial Advisor for Merrill Lynch for 21 years in Florida. Prior to being a Financial Advisor, Norman and Claudette owned and managed NJ Marcotte, INC. an appliance, furniture business along with a sister construction company in Brattleboro, VT. Prior to that, he was a comptroller for Putney Paper Mill in Putney, VT.
Norman was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus in Claremont, NH and the Elks Lodge in Brattleboro, VT. He enjoyed traveling the country with his wife in their RV. Mr. Marcotte took up farming when he moved to Gore,VA and always found his peace on the farm.
He married Claudette Ferland on April 20, 1963, in Claremont, New Hampshire.
Surviving with his wife are his daughters, Gail Marcotte of Gore, Virginia, Michele Hart and husband, Russ Hlywa, of Stephenson, Virginia, Nichole Reese and husband, Marcus of Mosier, Oregon; grandchildren, Travis Hart (Hannah), Tyler Dittmer, Aiden Dittmer, Willow Dittmer; great grandchildren, Poppy and Paisley Hart; his sister, Pauline Wheeler of Delta Junction, Alaska and brother, Dennis Marcotte and wife, Nancy, of Greensboro, North Carolina.
The family will receive friends on Friday, April 15th, from 6:00-8:00 PM, at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Saturday, April 16th at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church with Father Stanley J. Krempa officiating. Interment will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Blue Ridge Hospice, 333 West Cork Street, Suite 405, Winchester, Virginia, 22601.
