Norma H. Helmick
Norma Harper Helmick, 82, of Frederick County, Virginia, died Monday, January 30, 2012, at Almost Home private nursing home.
Mrs. Helmick was born in 1929, in Onego, West Virginia, the daughter of the late Mervin and Alta Harper. She worked at Schoeman’s for many years and more recently at Amoco Foam for 12 years, retiring in 1996. Mrs. Helmick was a member of Shenandoah Valley Baptist Church.
She married Rupert L. Helmick on May 13, 1946, in Oakland, Maryland.
Surviving with her husband, are two daughters, Wanda Smoke and husband, Holmes ,of Winchester, Wilda Jean Coogle of Bel Air, Maryland; three sons, Gary R. Helmick and Ronnie R. Helmick, both of Winchester and Barry M. Helmick and his wife, Rebecca, of Bunker Hill, West Virginia; 13 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren and her brother, Doan Harper of Harrisonburg, Virginia.
One grandson, Ronnie R. Helmick II, a sister and four brothers, preceded her in death.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Thursday, at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel, with Pastor Gene Jones and Pastor Vernon Bray officiating. Interment will be in Shenandoah Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Joshua Myers, Spencer Coogle, Cullen Helmick, Bo Helmick, Alden Helmick and Greg Helmick.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Jesse Evans, Kevin Myers and Gerald Helmick.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening, from 6:00-8:00 PM, at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.
