Nicholas Brian Cooke, 35, of Winchester, VA, passed away on Sunday, August 6, 2023.

Nicholas was born in 1987 in Temple, TX, and grew up in Beaumont, TX. He was the son of Vicky Cooke and the late David Brian Cooke. Nick earned his Bachelor’s Degree from Lamar University, where he majored in Management, General Business and Entrepreneurship. He loved sports and played arena football for the Beaumont Drillers. Nick was an avid reader and loved writing, his favorite authors were Stephen King and Orson Scott Card. Nick had a boisterous and contagious personality, always drawing others into his circle. He will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his mother; brothers, Jonathan Cooke (Debbie), David “Cowboy” Cooke; maternal grandmother, Runell Byrd (the late Wesley), his nephew, Kaelan Cooke, stepmother, Joni Abshire, and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

All services for Nick will be private.

Nicky, my love. I don’t know what to say. You were my best friend in law, my best buddy, always by my side. I have a plethora of memories of us goofing around. You helped me through one of my biggest losses of my life, my father, how am I ever going to get through this. I love you, say hi to my Otis for me.

On behalf of the Dykes family, we are so sorry for your loss.

I love you brother. We haven’t spoken in years but we were tight in high school and the friendship and memories we shared I will hold dear for the rest of my life. We lived one street away from each other, played football together and every time we hung out all we did was laugh. Nick, you will be missed.

So sorry to hear of Nicks passing. Prayers, peace and love to all of his family and friends in this difficult time. Nick was always a great kid / young man; always laughing & outgoing, with a kind or encouraging word to those around him. Deb & I always considered him one of our boys!

You were a great man with a big heart, immensely intelligent, and a phenomenal sense of humor. Rest easy, buddy. See you at the river.

Nick was a beautiful person, who cared deeply about others and loved with his entire heart. He loved to laugh and share his light with whoever he could.. He will be missed.
