Nelson Eugene Smith, 73 0f Strasburg, VA, passed away on Friday, May 16, 2025, at his home.
Nelson was born on March 4, 1952, in Boston, MA and was the son of the late Leonard Malcom Smith and Claire Bernice Pratt. He was a mechanic by trade, and he loved working on old cars. Nelson enjoyed carpentry, deer hunting, fishing and tending to his garden.
He married Virginia “Ginny” Lee Compher and she preceded him in death on September 4, 2022.
Nelson is survived by his children, Laurie Smith Guillette of New Hampshire, Jennifer Smith Mancino and her husband Michael of South Carolina; grandchildren, Alexus Stanley, Stephen Stanley, Kaylee Mancino, Zackary Mancino and Charlotte Mancino; sisters, Shirley D. Smith Carr and her husband Scott, Rachel Williams Van Dinter, and his brothers, Stephen “Stevie” W. Smith and his wife, Marie and Mark Williams along with many nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents and wife, Ginny, Nelson is preceded in death by his brothers, Leonard “Lenny” M. Smith and his late wife, Mary, Eugene Malcom Smith and his sister, Sharon Marie Rosenberger and her late husband, Robert.
A Graveside Service will be held for Nelson on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, at 2 pm in Shenandoah Memorial Park.
