Nathaniel Lee McCoy, 37 of Stephens City, VA passed away Tuesday, November 9, 2021.
Nathan was born in 1984 in Winchester, VA to Donna Jean McCoy and the late Kevin Lee McCoy, Sr. He was a graduate of James Wood High School and worked as hardscape and mowing supervisor at A Cut Above Landscaping and Lawn Care. Nathan was a member of the Eagles and enjoyed working on dirt track race cars, specifically numbers 37 of Brian Tavenner and 20 of Trever Feathers. He loved hunting, fishing and music. He was a Miami Dolphins and NASCAR fan. Nathan also loved cooking especially using the smoker he and Bo built. He was a good friend and employee who loved everyone. Nathan dedicated time to whom ever needed it. He will be sadly missed by all that knew him.
Nathan married Jennifer Diehr on October 6, 2007 in Cross Junction, VA.
He is survived by his wife, Jennifer; mother, Donna (Donny); son, Cameron Lee McCoy; brothers, Andrew Wyatt McCoy, Joseph Phillips and Duel Whitehead; in laws, Ed & Bobbi Ruths and Ronnie & Pam Hileman; sister in law, Alexis Alvarez (Jonathan) and Amy McCoy; brothers in law, Tanner Ruths and Ronnie Hileman; special uncles, Willie Whetzel and Frank Lewis; special aunts, Diane Easter and Judy “Janet” Shifflet; nieces and nephews, Hunter and Breanna McCoy, Timothy and Hollie Nolan; godchildren, Emma and Tyler Darr, Elizabeth and Gwenn Smith; special friends, Trever Feathers, Carl Streit, Bo and Lisa Feathers, Tyler Stine, Brian Tavenner, Travis Streit, Daniel “Pup” Copenhaver, Daniel Malone, Dave Murphy, Will Darr, Jason McKee, Ronald Crouse, Avery Kenney, Cam Eback, and Jason Fahnestock , and the entire A Cut Above and racing families.
Nathan is preceded in death by a brother, Kevin McCoy, Jr., grandmother, Marjorie Omps, Thyra Whetzel, Kila “Nanny” Merica and Loretta Ruths; grandfathers, Junior F. Whetzel, Jim McCoy and Sonny Ruths (Pap Pap).
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, November 14, 2021 from 1pm to 6pm at West Oaks Farm Market, 4305 Middle Road, Winchester, VA 22602. Feel free to wear your A Cut Above or racing gear. All others are asked to dress in casual attire.
