Nannie O. Unger
Nannie Olan Brannon Unger, 79, of Winchester, Virginia, died Tuesday, April 12, 2011, in Winchester Medical Center.
Mrs. Unger was born in 1932, in Unger, West Virginia, the daughter of the late Thomas Jefferson and Elizabeth Olan Brannon. She was a homemaker and a member of Relief United Methodist Church. Mrs. Unger was also a member of the Relief United Methodist Women. She enjoyed life especially playing cards with her family and friends.
Her husband, Junior Lee Unger, whom she married on September 5, 1950, in Williamsport, Maryland, preceded her in death on February 15, 2001.
Surviving are her children, Gregory Lee Unger and wife, Janet, of Stephens City, Susan Marie Goodman of Rhode Island, Judith U. Fravel and husband, Philip, of Stephens City, Gayle U. Solenberger and husband, Jeff, Jody D. Hawse and husband, John, all of Winchester and John K. Unger of Rhode Island; eight grandchildren, Sarah Jo Unger, John F. Hawse IV, Arin H. Smith, Ayla H. Smith, Jason F. Hawse, Jacob B. Fravel, Cassi Jo Unger and Catherine L. Fravel; her sister, Winnetta Kay Brannon of Front Royal; brothers, Charles Oscar Brannon of Winchester, Hugh Fenton Brannon of Cross Junction and Afred Benjamin Brannon of Winchester.
Two sisters, Marie Allanson and Lucille Marple, preceded her in death.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Friday at Relief United Methodist Church with Reverend Aaron W. Fitch officiating. Entombment will be in Shenandoah Memorial Park Mausoleum, Frederick County, Virginia.
Pallbearers will be John Hawse IV, Jason Hawse, Jacob B. Fravel, John Hawse III, Scott Marple and Ronnie Palmer.
The family will receive friends on Thursday evening, from 6:00-8:00 PM, at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.
