Nancy L. Oates
Nancy Lou Robinson Russell Oates, 72, of Frederick County, Virginia, died Monday, February 14, 2011, in her home.
Mrs. Oates was born in 1938, in Kearneysville, West Virginia, the daughter of the late Curtis G. and Esther Robinson, Sr. She was a cook at the Flying J. Restaurant, retiring in 2010 after ten years of service. She loved her family and enjoyed shopping and cooking as well as doing crossword puzzles and trips to the beach with her family.
Her first husband, William Frank Russell, Jr. preceded her in death in 1976.
Her second husband, Russell Lee Oates preceded her in death in 1994.
Surviving are three daughters, Brenda Gale Johnson of Charleston, West Virginia, Esther Beatrice Cobb of Cross Junction, Virginia, Belinda Jean Russell of Winchester; two sons, William “Billy” Frank Russell, III of Winchester and David O’Brien Russell of Clearbrook; thirteen grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; sisters, Ella Lee Cook, Anna “Ann” Catherine Wymer, Betty Mae Shifflett, Mary Jean Welch; brothers, Donald “Punch “ Griffin Robinson, John “Johnnie” Carr Robinson, Jack Fishel Robinson, Thomas “Tommy” Edward Robinson, Sr., Curtis Griffin Robinson, Jr., Charles “Dougie” Douglas Robinson and Larry Keith Robinson.
Two sisters, Audrey “Janie” Jane Corbin, Bonnie Elizabeth Robinson and two brothers, Guy “Jimmy” Dutton Robinson and Paul “Pat” William Robinson preceded her in death.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Friday at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel with Pastor John Morrison officiating. Inurnment will be in Brucetown United Methodist Church Cemetery at a later date.
The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 6:00-8:00 PM at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.
