Nancy K. Clark Bishop, lovingly known as Nanny, 66, of Frederick County, Virginia passed away Wednesday, October 18, 2017 at Winchester Medical Center, after a brief illness surrounded by her loving family.
Nancy was born in 1951 in Winchester, Virginia, the daughter of Frances Haines Clark and the late Preston Arlington Clark. Along with her family, she spent the first several years of her life living with Patsy Cline and Patsy’s family at 608 N. Kent Street in Winchester.
Nancy married Gregory Alan Bishop on May 16, 1970 in Hagerstown, Maryland. Together, they owned and operated Winchester Truck Salvage, retiring in 2004. Nancy enjoyed traveling and was blessed to have spent the last 13 years in Florida during the winter months. Along with her husband, she traveled thousands of miles touring the United States on motorcycles. Nancy was a member of the “Lady of the Blue Knights” (Law Enforcement Motorcycle Club) and treasured the friendships she had with the other members. On Friday nights (and many other nights of the week), you could always find her, her Mother and her husband, having dinner at Greg’s Restaurant in Capon Bridge, WV (her favorite restaurant). She loved everyone there as if they were her own family.
Above all else, Nancy’s greatest passion was spending time with her grandsons, C.T. and Gregory. They were and always will be the loves of her life. They were her world, as she was theirs. She was a giving person; always ready to lend a hand, prepare a meal, offer a ride, volunteer for fundraisers or whatever you might need, she would do it for you. She had a blessed, wonderful life and lived every day to its fullest. She’s a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and sister that will always be loved and missed.
Surviving with her loving husband of 47 years and her mother is a daughter, Stacie Bishop Amari (Thomas Amari): son, Timothy Clark Bishop: her precious grandsons, Claudio Thomas “C.T.” Amari and Gregory Bishop Amari; brothers, Bruce A. Clark (The late Debra Clark) and Kenneth E. Clark (Donna Clark); sister-in-law, Bonnie Clark; sister, Judy Spurling (Dave); and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends in the Winchester area and in Florida.
Nancy was preceded in death by brothers, Gary L. Clark and Robert W. Clark; both of which passed earlier this year, within 10 days of each other.
A gathering of family and friends will be from 6pm to 8pm on Wednesday at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11am on Thursday at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel with Pastor Allen Roby and Funeral Celebrant Tim Grum officiating. Interment will be in Chestnut Grove Cemetery, Frederick County, Virginia.
Pallbearers will be Andy Anderson, Timmy Smith, Kevin Orndorff, Terry Orndorff, Scott Brannon and Rocky Keplinger.
Nancy’s family requests that you live every day to its fullest, enjoy the warmth of the sunshine on your face as she always did and hug someone every day to show them how much they are loved.
In lieu of flowers, donations of blankets, coats, socks, toiletries, dog food, cat food, pet products and non-perishables may be brought to Omps Funeral Home, Amherst which will be donated in memory of Nancy to the WATTS program (Winchester Area Temporary Thermal Shelter) and Briggs Animal Shelter (in honor of her grandsons).
