Nancy R. Eyre

Nancy Redeen Wells Eyre, 69, of Cross Junction, Virginia, died Friday, April 8, 2016, at her home.

Nancy was born in 1946, in Kenosha, Wisconsin the daughter of the late Virginia Wells and Belmont Rockwell. She grew up in Cumberland, Maryland. She was a graduate of the University of Miami receiving a Master’s Degree in Education.  Nancy was a retired school teacher serving in Atlanta, Georgia.  She also worked as a substitute teacher in Frederick County, Hampshire County, and Berkeley County.  Nancy was a member of Redland United Methodist Church in Cross Junction and was a member of the church choir.

She married Anthony Eyre on June 26, 1969, in Alexandria, Virginia. They met in Biloxi, Mississippi where she was attending Gulfpark College and Anthony was in the Air Force.

Surviving with her husband are her daughters, Angela Escalona and husband, Frank, of The Plains, Virginia, Anna Marie Kaczmarzewski and husband, Preston, of Cross Junction, Virginia; son, Chris Eyre and wife, Marlisa, of Winchester; grandchildren, Brooks Rust and husband Breckenridge, Francesca and Chiloé Escalona, Emma Kate, Elliot, Adaline, Elias and Isaiah Eyre, Astrid, Phinehas, Augustine and Jaren Kaczmarzewski, great grandchild, Axton Lee and sister, Debbie Medál of El Dorado, California.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening, from 6:00-8:00 PM, at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.

A memorial service will be conducted Wednesday at 2:00 PM at Redland United Methodist Church with Reverend Mike Dean officiating.
