Myretta Elizabeth (Boyd) McIntire, 90, fondly known to her family as “Mommoo,” of Winchester, Virginia, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 18, 2026.

Born May 26, 1936, in Winchester, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Henry Addison Boyd and Mary Inez (Leake) Boyd. On December 11, 1954, she married Sylvester Melvin McIntire in Hagerstown, Maryland. They enjoyed 54 years of marriage prior to his passing on February 4, 2009.

Myretta was a devoted cafeteria worker for the Winchester Public School System, where she loved cooking for over 300 children and continued working late into her life as much as she could. Cooking was both her passion and a gift she excelled at, bringing warmth and nourishment to family, friends, and students alike.

A woman of deep faith, Myretta was a long-standing member of the Winchester First Church of the Nazarene and was always eager to lend a helping hand wherever needed. She thoroughly enjoyed spending time at the Winchester Senior Center up until the age of 88 and loved watching her family participate in sports. Above all, she treasured her family and adored her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her daughter, Deborah M. Wilson of Frederick County, VA; two sons, Michael S. McIntire (Latricia) and Mark A. McIntire (Carla), both of Frederick County, VA; seven grandchildren, Michelle Lewis, Jennifer Herring (Gentry), Michael McIntire (Sylvia), Jonathan Wilson (Katie), Joshua Wilson (Valerie), Aaron Wilson, and Amanda W. Brill (Matt); 14 great-grandchildren, Ashley, Bryanna, Kayley, Lana, Quint, Ariana, Grant, Wyatt, Mila, Keaton, Morgan, Tucker, Piper, and Wendy; eight great-great-grandchildren, Audrielynn, Zayden, Grace Lynn, Evaneah, Alana, Axel, Cameron, and Savanna.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Josephine Bush, and Thelma Boyd; a great-grandson, Shawn Stotler; and a great-great-grandson, Kaysen Stotler.

A visitation will be held on Friday, August 28, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM with Pastor Dave Kessell officiating. Burial will be private at Shenandoah Memorial Park.
