Morgan Christopher Edmunds died on May 1, 2015 of natural causes. He lived a long, full life during his 89 years. Born in Fairbanks, Alaska in 1925, he and his two sisters experienced adventure as his father worked as an engineer on many road-related projects in Alaska, including the first road to Mt. McKinley in Denali National Park. His mother was a nurse in Fort Yukon. Morgan graduated from Anchorage High School in 1943, and from the University of Alaska in Engineering in 1958. He joined the Corps of Engineers, working at Elmendorf Air Force Base in Anchorage, with some additional work for the Corps in Saudi Arabia and South Korea. In 1975, he moved with his family to Livorno, Italy, and then to Winchester, Virginia as he continued his work with the Corps.
In 1988, Morgan re-married Virginia “Tweedy” Nufer. He and Tweedy shared over 25 years together traveling the world, enjoying many friendships, and watching grandchildren grow until her passing in 2014.
In addition to Tweedy, Morgan is predeceased by his son, David Edmunds. He is survived by his daughters, Megan Edmunds (Scott Lowry), Lucinda Edmunds (Michael Chao), and Mathilda “Tilla” Edmunds (Stephen Groundwater), daughter-in-law, Maria Edmunds, and granddaughters, Roxanne and Selena Chao and Margot Groundwater.
