Minos Georgarakis

Minos Georgarakis, 79, of Jefferson County, West Virginia, died Friday, December 17, 2010, in Winchester Medical Center.

Mr. Georgarakis was born in 1931 in Khartoum, Sudan, Africa, the son of the late Stelios and Katherine Georgarakis. He was a retired Visual Communication Specialist for the Library of Congress and a member of the Dormition of the Virgin Mary Greek Orthodox Church in Winchester, Virginia. He was a Veteran having serviced from 1953-1961 in the United States Marine Corps, achieving the rank of Sgt.

He married Patricia Catherine Miller on July 12, 1958, in Alexandria, Virignia.

Surviving with his wife of 52 years are two daughters, Christiana Katherine Georgarakis and her husband, Glenn Morrison of Winchester, Virginia, Katrina Georgarakis-Richter and husband, Lloyd Richter of Bethany Beach, Delaware; one son, Timothy Georgarakis and wife, Catherine, of Forcalquier, France; six grandchildren, Daphne, Alexandra, Nathaniel, Michael, Anthony and Natasha and one brother, Nassos Georgarakis of Athens, Greece. One brother, Anthony Georgarakis preceded him in death.

A funeral service will be conducted at 10:30 AM on Monday at the Dormition of the Virgin Mary Greek Orthodox Church with Reverend Stephen Gousios officiating. Interment will be in Quantico National Cemetery, Triangle, Virginia Tuesday at 11:00 AM.

The family will receive friends on Monday prior to the service from 10:00-10:30 AM at the church.
