Mildred Snyder Neff
Mildred Snyder Neff, 95, of Stephens City, Virginia, died Wednesday, January 4, 2011, in a local nursing facility.
Mrs. Neff was born in 1916, in Bunker Hill, West Virginia, the daughter of the late George and Harriet Snyder. She was a homemaker and a member of the Church of the Brethren in Bunker Hill, West Virginia. Mrs. Neff loved playing Bingo.
Her husband, Elmo R. “Slim” Neff, Sr., whom she married on November 24, 1938, in Front Royal, Virginia, preceded her in death on October 11, 2002.
Surviving are three daughters, Virginia B. Clem and husband, Ralph, Deborah L. Furley Elizabeth A. Ramey and husband, Larry; two sons, Elmo R. “Sonny” Neff, Jr. and wife, Groveen, and John W. Neff, Sr. and his wife, Alice, all of Stephens City, Virginia; 14 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; her sister, Isabell Snyder Spitzer of Bunker Hill, West Virginia and her beloved dog, Taffy.
Five grandchildren, two brothers and eight sisters, preceded Mrs. Neff in death.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Saturday, at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel, with Reverend John Lock officiating. Interment will be in Fairview United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Jeff Neff, Todd Neff, John Neff, Jr., Joseph Neff, Bill Ramey, Brad Ramey, David Conner, Elmer Furley, III, and J. R. Clem.
The family will receive friends Friday evening, from 6:00-8:00 PM, at Omps Funeral home, Amherst Chapel.
