Mildred Ann “Millie” Sites, 80, of Stephens City, Virginia, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 12, 2026, at Winchester Medical Center.
Millie was born on May 26, 1945, in Arlington, Virginia, the daughter of the late Edgar Heishman and Neville (Snoots) Heishman. She was a graduate of high school, having attended Robert E. Lee High School in Springfield, VA. Millie retired after a 30-year career as a Computer Specialist for the U.S. Government/U.S. Army.
Millie married Donald Edward Sites on February 28, 1993, in Alexandria, Virginia, who survives her. She enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, traveling, and spending time with her family, particularly her grandchildren and her dog, Riley.
In addition to her husband, Donald, Millie is survived by her children, Michelle Henry (Michael), Phillip Gomez, and Trisha Shanholtz (James). She is also survived by her stepchildren, Tommy Sites (Robin), Carmala Shively (Andrew), Matthew Sites (Nadine), and Breanna Sites(Brandon). Her loving legacy continues through her twelve grandchildren: Brittany Gouldrup (Colby), Taylor Callan (Andrew Loudan), Christopher Sites (Breanna), Hunter Sites (Kiara), Ryan Hayes (Agostina), Josh Hayes (Tessa Hatfield), Caden Shively, Brantlee Fansler, Cooper Sherman, Tyler Shanholtz (Taryn), TJ Shanholtz (Miranda), and Huckston Sites and six great-grandchildren; Baker, Evelyn, Raelynn, Brantley, Hutson, Weston and an additional great-grandson expected this summer. Millie is also survived by her sisters, Polly Freeman, Neville Doggett, and Sheryl Duvall; and her brothers, Sonny Heishman, Dale Heishman, Raymond Heishman.
She was preceded in death by her siblings, Margaret Lyons, Johnny Heishman, Howard Heishman, Jimmy Heishman and Buck Heishman.
A visitation will be held on Friday, April 17, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 am with Pastor John Lock officiating. Interment will be at Refuge Church Cemetery.
