Mikel R. Tyson

Mikel Roy Tyson, 63, of Martinsburg, West Virginia, died Monday, January 30, 2012, in Martinsburg City Hospital.

Mr. Tyson was born in 1948 in Inyokern, California, the son of Bill Tyson and the late Nina Tyson. He was a Pharmacist with Rite Aid. He was a graduate of Southwestern Oklahoma University where he received a Bachelor of Arts Degree. He was a Veteran having served in the United States Navy.

He married Ellen Alt on February 25, 1998 in Winchester, Virginia.

Surviving with his father and wife are two daughters, Dani Garcia and husband Koki of Miami Florida, Dee Dee Ricketts and husband, Greg of Winchester, two sons, Ian Tyson and Cameron Tyson both of Centerville, Virginia; five grandchildren; Gavin, Katie, Michael and Rebecca Garcia all of Miami, Flordia and Andrew Ricketts of Winchester, Virginia; his sister, Patsy Thurn and husband Jack, of Alamo, Texas; brother Joe Tyson and wife, Elizabeth of Constable, New York.

Mikel was preceded in death by a son Lee Tranum.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Friday at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel with Reverend Ronald Neff officiating.

The family will receive friends on Thursday from 2:00-4:00 PM and 6:00-8:00 PM at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 2654 Valley Avenue, Winchester, Virginia 22601.

I worked as a pharmacist with Mike back in 1976 at a Drug Fair (later became Rite Aid) in Springfield Va. He did great job for our customers and other employees in the store. I am sorry to hear about his death. He was a wonderful guy.
