Michael Wayne “Mike” Shrout, age 52, of Winchester, Virginia, passed away on Friday, August 14, 2026, at WVU Medicine Princeton Community Hospital in Princeton, West Virginia.

Born on October 23, 1973, in Romney, West Virginia, Mike was the son of the late Carl Edward Shrout, Sr. and Beulah Marie (Sites) Shrout. He was a graduate of James Wood High School, Class of 1991. For approximately 25 years, Mike worked as an expert brick mason before transitioning to his career as a truck driver for XPO Logistics.

A natural craftsman, Mike had a knack for hands-on building projects and could make just about anything work. He was a diehard Dallas Cowboys fan. Mike loved cooking, riding ATVs, and in his younger years, enjoyed riding his motorcycles. He also held a deep affection for his pets, especially his feline companions, Willow and Fuzzy.

He is survived by his son, Bradley Michael Shrout of Winchester, VA; his sister, Barbara S. Wolford of St. Augustine, FL; three brothers, Carl “Eddie” Shrout, Jr. (Brenda) of Martinsburg, WV, Charles “Chuck” Shrout (Vicky) of Winchester, VA, and William “Bill” Shrout (Paula) of Stephens City, VA; along with numerous loving nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, August 22, 2026, at 6pm with a service to follow at 7pm all held at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.
