Michael J. Conaboy, 73, of Winchester, Virginia, passed away March 11, 2026, at Winchester Medical Center following a brief illness. Mike was born on April 7, 1952, in Avoca, Pennsylvania, the son of the late John F. and Jane G. Conaboy.
He was a graduate of Scranton Preparatory School and Wilkes College with a degree in materials engineering. He also attended the University of Georgia and the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts. He was employed by Bechtel Corporation in the power industry before leaving to pick up his brush as both an artist and house painter. He was also an accomplished genealogist with his research being cited in several local historical publications.
He is survived by his siblings Jack Conaboy (Julie) of Grove City, Ohio; Steve Conaboy (Kathy) of Downingtown, Pennsylvania; Karen McLaughlin of Falls Church, Virginia; and Tucker Conaboy (Becky) of Winchester, Virginia. He also leaves behind 12 nieces and nephews, six great-nieces and nephews, and many beloved aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was predeceased by brother-in-law Stephen McLaughlin.
A graveside service will be held at Mount Hebron Cemetery in Winchester, Virginia on Friday, April 10 at 11:00 a.m.
