Michael H. Pryor, Jr., 70, of White Post, Virginia, died Saturday, April 16, 2016 at his home after a sudden diagnosis of cancer.
Mr. Pryor was born July 9, 1945 in Cumberland, Maryland, the son of the late Margaret and Michael Henry T. Pryor Sr.
Michael was a Veteran having served with the United States Navy. He was retired from General Electric with more than 26 years of employment as a Production Worker. After retirement he enjoyed his employment as a caregiver with HomeInstead Senior Care. He was a dedicated member of Macedonia United Methodist Church where he participated with the Bluegrass Gospel Choir. Michael was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend to many. He can be forever remembered for his love of family, faith and singing. Michael was fanatical about many things including, Coney Island hot dogs, old cars, old time rock and roll, singing and playing the guitar whenever possible. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
He married Joanne Adams on June 2, 1967 in Baltimore Maryland.
Surviving with his wife of 49 years are two daughters Chris Sherman and her husband Steve of Strasburg, Virginia and Michelle Carver and her husband Paul of Winchester, Virginia; two sons Gregory Imes and his wife Michelle of Willowbrook, Illinois and Michael H.T. Pryor III and his wife Melissa of Clearbrook, Virginia; ten grandchildren whom he loved unconditionally; Justin, Mandy, Kendra, Kala, Colby, Paul III, Luke, Kelly, Sophia and Berk, nine great grandchildren; his sister Susan Pryor of Castro Valley, California and his brother Darrell Oster of Castro Valley, California.
In addition to his parents Michael was also preceded in death by his sister Sharon Pryor and two brothers Dale and Richard Oster.
The family will receive friends on Thursday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel.
A Memorial service will be conducted on Friday at 2:00 PM with visitation from 1:00 until the time of the service, at Macedonia United Methodist Church. Pastor Mike Mayton will be officiating. Military honors will be afforded by V.F.W. Post #2123.
