Michael H. Pryor, Jr., 70, of White Post, Virginia, died Saturday, April 16, 2016 at his home after a sudden diagnosis of cancer.

Mr. Pryor was born July 9, 1945 in Cumberland, Maryland, the son of the late Margaret and Michael Henry T. Pryor Sr.

Michael was a Veteran having served with the United States Navy. He was retired from General Electric with more than 26 years of employment as a Production Worker. After retirement he enjoyed his employment as a caregiver with HomeInstead Senior Care. He was a dedicated member of Macedonia United Methodist Church where he participated with the Bluegrass Gospel Choir. Michael was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend to many. He can be forever remembered for his love of family, faith and singing. Michael was fanatical about many things including, Coney Island hot dogs, old cars, old time rock and roll, singing and playing the guitar whenever possible. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

He married Joanne Adams on June 2, 1967 in Baltimore Maryland.

Surviving with his wife of 49 years are two daughters Chris Sherman and her husband Steve of Strasburg, Virginia and Michelle Carver and her husband Paul of Winchester, Virginia; two sons Gregory Imes and his wife Michelle of Willowbrook, Illinois and Michael H.T. Pryor III and his wife Melissa of Clearbrook, Virginia; ten grandchildren whom he loved unconditionally; Justin, Mandy, Kendra, Kala, Colby, Paul III, Luke, Kelly, Sophia and Berk, nine great grandchildren; his sister Susan Pryor of Castro Valley, California and his brother Darrell Oster of Castro Valley, California.

In addition to his parents Michael was also preceded in death by his sister Sharon Pryor and two brothers Dale and Richard Oster.

The family will receive friends on Thursday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel.

A Memorial service will be conducted on Friday at 2:00 PM with visitation from 1:00 until the time of the service, at Macedonia United Methodist Church. Pastor Mike Mayton will be officiating. Military honors will be afforded by V.F.W. Post #2123.

Memorial contributions in Michael’s name may be made to Blue Ridge hospice, 333 West Cork Street, Suite 405, Winchester, Virginia 22601.

I moved away from home several years ago and grew up as the neighbor of Mike and family. I recently heard of his passing.. Im Sadden to hear this as Mike was a great man for what I knew him as. I am enlisted in the Navy and Mike was as well. On my visits home I would see him and we would talk about the Navy and life in general. I pray for his family and wish them the best suffering with this lost.. I'll always remember my talks with Mike and his great humor and his neighborly presence.. Ronald Mowbray jr.

I wept, from sadness of Mike's Passing. I wept from joy of knowing him. I wept with tears of pride of growing with him. I wept as a brother lost. I Wept with Family of a monumental loss. I will see him again on the other side, or in a familiar song, in a stage of humor or a infectious laugh. We will weep again together of things gone bye. Know that he was the best. The best brother in law that ever could have been. It is said that that you can Gage a mans worth by what he leaves behind. You only have to look at his children, grand children and great grand children and their outstanding character to no that he was rich beyond all imagination. RIP Michael Henry Pryor. Unbelievable when i seen the paper that Mike had passed away,My Heart goes out to Joann and the family. We've known them for Years and at one point they were like Family, Mike was always so much fun ,He will be extremely missed by all.

I was so shocked to hear of Mike's passing..I have truly missed his singing and big personality he has and will be truly missed..My thoughts and prayers will go out to you Joann and the children and grandchildren..Im so sorry for your loss...Mike is singing with angels now.
