I didn't know Michael personally but I worked at Food Lion on sunnyside plaza and he would always come in and always had a smile on his face! I am truly saddened to hear of his passing. Will be thinking of his family in their time of need.

Michael was always very helpful and pleasant to deal with at the Handley Library. I can't recall a time when he didn't find a solution to one of my computer/software problems. Such a delight to interact with. I think in this case that God chose to take a really good one early.

My nephew, Michael, attended the 1996 Hartman Reunion in Butler, PA, with me. He was the center of attention with all my cousins because of his story telling ability, his knowledge of art and outgoing personality. Everyone he met liked him. He was a big hit. I will remember him forever.

Michael, I didn't know you that well but for the time I did have with you I am forever grateful. Both you and Jennifer taught me a very powerful lesson about real friendship. God bless you, your family and friends.

Oh my, how many memories can an aunt bring forth. I recall your baby days and on to adulthood. I treasure the "bare your heart" emails we shared and will always smile recalling the warped sense of humor you could bring forth at times. I am grateful for the aunt/nephew relationship we enjoyed.

My deepest sympathies to Michael’s family. I very much enjoyed working with Michael at the library. He was always pleasant and very thorough in answering my questions. When he helped maintain staff computers, he explained things in a way that was easily understood. When I had computer problems, he was willing drop what he was doing to work on my problem. Michael was always patient with my questions, no matter how basic they were (or how many times he had answered the same or similar questions for me). He was always professional and kind to library customers as well. Part of his job was helping customers use the computers. Many times he helped people who were not computer literate fill out job applications online or write resumes. Even when he was having to demonstrate how to use a mouse, he was patient and considerate. With his background in art history, Michael was a natural for giving art-in-the-library tours at Handley Library, which were always well attended. He documented the library’s artwork and helped write the art section of the library’s 100 anniversary book. Michael Gur, with his expertise in a wide range of topics and helpful nature, will be greatly missed at Handley Library by staff and customers alike.
