Michael Duane Murphy, 70 of Front Royal, VA passed away Saturday, September, 3, 2022 at the Veterans Hospital in Martinsburg, WV.

Michael was born on October 30, 1951 in West Virginia and was a graduate of Paw Paw High School. He served our country in the United States Army where he rose to the rank of Sergeant. Before retiring to his home on the mountain, Michael worked as a cashier at the Front Royal Speedway.

He is survived by his sister, Susie, his foster parents, Joseph Swack and Phyllis Swack, his foster brother, Clarence Duvall, Jr. (Patricia, deceased), his foster sisters, Traci Swack, Staci Koenig (Scott), LaTesha Scott (Joey), and Amy Maidment (Nich), as well as many foster nieces and nephews. Michael is predeceased by his girlfriend, Cynthia Doyne.

After retiring, Michael enjoyed spending time in his mountain home with his girlfriend. They adored the many cats that they took in, along with feeding the deer, raccoon, and other wildlife that came to visit. Michael never turned down a good steak and loved talking with family and friends about his adventures.

A graveside service with military honors will be held at Quantico National Cemetery at a later date.
