Melvin Kenzil Baker, son of Harry F. Baker and Mattie M. Sisk Baker left this world for his heavenly home in the early morn of July 25, 2020.

Melvin is survived by his wife, Mary, and their six children: Betty Ann Ward (Donnie) of Marshall, VA, Melvin K. Baker, Jr. (Leanna) of Leesburg, VA, Harry F. Baker, II (Janet) of Gaithersburg, MD, Donna Lynn Monk (Raymond) of Stuarts Draft, VA, Paul S. Baker of the home in Greenville, VA, and Gretta Agnes Cason (Brian) of Greenville, VA. Melvin leaves behind 12 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

Melvin was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Mattie, and by his siblings: four brothers, Winston, Harry, Jack, Bruce and two sisters, Margie and Shirley.

Melvin and Mary were married close to 70 years. He loved his family, church family, traveling, and of course “old country ham”! He loved going to church and serving His Lord. He enjoyed life.

Due to COVID 19 we will be only having a private service. We are saddened by this as we know many loved him. If anyone would like to send a card sharing a memory of Dad, please address it to: Mary V. Baker, 5353 Lee Jackson Hwy., Greenville, VA 24440.

Pallbearers will be his grandsons: D. Keith Ward, Joshua Baker, Matthew Baker, David Baker, Allen Monk, Jamie Helmick, and Aaron Hill.

I first met Brother Melvin and Sister Mary over 50 years ago at the old Brentsville Pentecostal Church. He was always so kind and humble, and determined to make everyone happy. GOD BLESS. R.I.P.

Go rest high Bro. baker. my friend . You sure will be missed. your laughter will ring on in my heart. When I had a previleged to take care of you and Sis. Baker. We talked about all the saints that has crossed over. You and I said we couldn't wait till we all go up there with them. Well, you have beaten me there. I was hoping we would go in the Rapture but God needed you more. Love you and look for me one of these days. I'm looking up because it can't be much longer before the Rapture takes place.

Our prayers are with the family we are so sorry for your loss. May love fill your hearts.

Peace of mind is a call away. We're here when you need us most.

Mr. Baker is going to be missed by many. Every time you were in his presence you would fill lifted up and reminded that God is good.

We were saddened at the passing of our precious friend of many years . He loved life, and lived every minute to its fullest when his health allowed him to do so . We will miss him . Words can't express how much Bro. Baker will be missed . He was always there if you needed to talk and when you were down about something he would sure get you laughing before long. We love you Bro. Baker and I know for sure you are enjoying yourself in Heaven with Bro. Savage, Bro . William Strickler, and Sis. Taylor. Heaven sure is getting sweeter all the time.
