Melvin G. Anderson

Melvin Garland Anderson, 86, of Frederick County, Virginia, died Friday, June 17, 2011, in Winchester Medical Center.

Mr. Anderson was born in 1924 in Winchester, Virginia the son of the late Samuel Ray and Retha Anderson. He was a cable maintenance worker with C& P Telephone retiring in 1977 with over 26 years of service. He was also a veteran having served in the United States Army.

His wife, Anna Kerns Anderson, preceded him in death in 1970.

Surviving is his son, Garland Scott Anderson and his wife, Sherry, of Stephens City, Virginia, one grandson, Cameron and one brother, Charles Edwin Anderson of Sun City, Arizona. Another brother, Raymond Madison Anderson, preceded him in death.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel, with Pastor Kent Woodward officiating. Interment will be in Mount Hebron Cemetery, Winchester, Virginia.

The family will receive friends on Monday evening from 6:00-8:00 PM at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.
