Mattie L. Fiddler of Stephenson, Virginia died November 3, 2026, at Hilltop Inspirit Senior Living.

Mrs. Fiddler was born on May 17, 1933, in Clarke County, Virginia, the daughter of the late Hensell L. and Ethel M. LaFollette.

She married James C. Fiddler September 12, 1954. Mr. Fiddler preceded her in death on September 11, 1998. She was a 1953 graduate of Clarke County High School and an active member of Valley Bible Church.

Surviving are two sons, James C. Fiddler II and wife Stephanie of Springfield, Missouri and Thomas L. Fiddler and wife Barbara of Stephenson. Two grandchildren, Heather L (her children Alice, Ruby, and Henry) and James C. Fiddler III and wife Liliana. Two step grandchildren, Bobbie Jo Allen, and Mike Vaughn along with a number of nieces and nephews.

She was the last member of her immediate family. Deceased are three sisters, Elsie Gladden, Sylvia Thompsen and Daisy Bowen. Four brothers, W. D. (Buck) Orndoff, Gaynor, Lawrence, and Edgar LaFollette.

A private graveside service will be held at Old Stone Church Cemetery, Whitehall, Virginia.

A memorial service will be held at Valley Bible Church 578 Double Church Road, Stephens
City, Virginia on Saturday, November 14, 2026 at 2pm.
