Matthew James “Buddy” Chicklo, Jr., 80, of Frederick County, VA, passed away Thursday, March 20, 2025, at his home with family by his side.
Buddy was born in 1944 in Greensburg, PA, son of the late Matthew James Chicklo, Sr. and Julia Virginia Chicklo. He attended John Handley High School and retired from General Electric where he was a machine mechanic. Buddy owned and operated Chicklo Auto Repair and Sales. After retirement, he took positions with Frederick County Parks & Recreation as well as VA National Bank. He was a very kind, gentle, and caring person who had a wonderful reputation with his customers and co-workers. Buddy not only helped his family in any way he could, he helped anyone who needed it. He enjoyed auto racing, hunting, and baseball with his sons. You could always find him tinkering in the garage. Buddy and his wife were members of Opequon Presbyterian Church.
He married Betty Virginia Emery in 1967 in Winchester, VA.
Surviving with his wife of 57 years are sons, Michael Scott Chicklo (Kimberly), Brian James Chicklo (Ashley), and Todd Matthew Chicklo (Jennifer); grandchildren, Amanda McCarthy (Taylor), Bryce (fiancé, Vince), Jacob, Dalton, Annalise, Collins, and Matthew Chicklo; great-grandchildren, Madison, Riley, and McKenzie McCarthy; loving and devoted sister-in-law, June Malone and brother, James M. Chicklo.
A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date at Opequon Presbyterian Church. Pastor David Witt will be the officiant.
