When I think of Mary, I think of the saying "it takes a village to raise a child"...but for her I would say she "raised a village". All the little ones she took from tot to teen in our community will carry a bit of her with them throughout their lives. She was a friend, teacher, mentor and for many a second Mom. I had her as a dance teacher as a child, she was a guard instructor while in band, and her daughter was a classmate. My daughter danced with her for 10 years, my son also for hip-hop. She became a member of our family during those 10 years, attending my wedding and being a mentor to my daughter. She will be forever missed. What a wonderful person gone, and my heart just aches.
