Mary Lou Roepken
Mary Lou Billhimer Roepken, 81, of Haymarket, Virginia, formerly of Winchester, Virginia died Tuesday, June 8, 2010, at Inova Fairfax Hospital.
Mrs. Roepken was born in 1928, in Fort Worth, Texas the daughter of the late John Wesley Dickinson and Loulamae W. Billhimer. She married Carl Thomas Roepken on May 1, 1948, in Arlington, Virginia. She was a statistician for Fairfax County Government, retiring in 1986. Mrs. Roepken was an active member of Redland United Methodist Church and volunteered for years with literacy groups in Winchester, teaching adults to read and write.
Surviving with her husband of 62 years are her daughters, Sharon Arensdorf and husband, Tom, of Haymarket, Virginia, Patty Fitzpatrick and husband, Michael, of Aldie, Virginia, Donna Rudzinski of Winchester, Virginia; grandchildren, Melissa Schuller, Cristi Scalph, Ryan Arensdorf, Justine Rudzinski, Tiffany Arensdorf, Devin Fitzpatrick and Shana Fitzpatrick; ten great grandchildren; sister, Billie Mae Williams of Vienna, Virginia; and great aunt, Mary Wolfe of Woodstock, Virginia.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Saturday at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel with Reverend Michael P. Kendall officiating. Interment will be in Shenandoah Memorial Park, Frederick County, Virginia.
Pallbearers will be Tom Arensdorf, Michael Fitzpatrick, Ryan Arensdorf, Devin Fitzpatrick, Jeremy Scalph and Jason Schuller.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, prior to the service, from 12:00-2:00 PM, at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel.
