Joyce was born October 20, 1962, the daughter of the late Robert and Geraldine Ellis. She graduated from Gilbert High School in West Virginia. Joyce proudly served the Loudoun County School System as a loving bus driver for 29 years. Joyce was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Winchester, Virginia and happily married Michael Dorn on November 20, 1982 in the Washington, D.C. Temple. She is remembered by all for her patience, her spontaneity and her joyful personality.

She is survived by her husband, Michael Dorn; her three children, Michael Dorn II (Kristy) of Stephens City, Virginia; James Dorn (Julie) of Richmond, Virginia; and Linda Schneier (Nicholas) of Los Angeles, California; her grandchildren, Annabelle, Miles and soon to be baby Dorn; Haley and Lucas Dorn; and Victoria Schneier. She is also survived by her siblings, Linda Stalnaker of Covington, Kentucky; Patty Brunton (Larry) of Phoenix, Arizona; Robert Ellis Jr. (Paula) of San Antonio, Texas; and Calvin Ellis (Renee) of Houston, Texas. Joyce is preceded in death by her sister, Thelma Kaufmann.

Family and friends will be received Monday, September 14, 2020 from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel, 1260 Front Royal Pike, Winchester, Virginia.

A funeral service will be conducted on Tuesday, September 15, 2020 at 11:00 am at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel, with Bishop Nathan Jensen officiating. Interment will follow in Shenandoah Memorial Park, Winchester, Virginia.

I am so sorry for your loss. I know you will be comforted by all the good memories you have of Joyce. I worked with Joyce for many years and she was always willing to go that extra mile to help out wherever needed. She really loved all the students she transported and always went above and beyond what was expected of her.

Joyce was always so kind and caring. She truly made this world a better place and I am grateful to have her memory in my life. Love to all of her family.

Miss you already little sister, Hunt Mike up and tell him he could visit sometime and you giv.e him a hard time for me. We both love you and I'm really going to miss you and our long phone calls.

Even though i only met you all for a brief period, i was touched by the love you all had for this lady. I usually do not cry on ambulance rides, but I did this time. She was always so kind and welcoming whenever I had the opportunity to see her! I met her when her daughter and I were in high school together. I will always have fond memories of her being one of the awesome, dedicated Band Moms that helped our high school band program run and thrive! She will be greatly missed!

Joyce helped me when I needed someone to talk to. She was always kind and was there if you needed anything. I was so sorry to hear about her passing, I will say prayers for her family now and always. Heaven's gain is our loss. Rest In Peace my friend.

I am deeply sorry for the loss of the matriarch of the Dorn family. Her children will carry her legacy throughout life of strong family ties, joy, and happiness. May you find comfort in your memories .

We in S. California were happy to host Joyce and Mike as they helped Linda with her new daughter. Joyce was a special lady, always upbeat and giving to others.

So sorry to hear about the loss of Joyce...I remember her playing with us as children, she was always fun to be around!!

Heartfelt thoughts go out to you in this time of sorrow. My deepest sympathy to the entire Dorn family.

She was such a wonderful person. I remember her always on her bus when school got out. She was always so happy, just like her daughter. Her light will be missed.

Joyce has been a special person in my life since we met while our children were in college together. Her smile would light up her face, and she loved life to the fullest. Always kind, humble, playful, helpful, content with the blessings the Lord sent her way. She shared her son James with my family, and she gathered with us for birthdays, Thanksgiving, Christmas and various other celebrations through the years. It has been an honor to be her friend and I will miss her forever.

Joyce had a unique way of instantly making you feel like family. She will be so very missed for her warmth, her generous heart, and of course her playful and silly spirit. She truly was one of a kind and I feel honored and blessed to have crossed paths with such an amazing woman.
