Mary Jane Hale
Mary Jane Hale, the daughter of the late Army Captain Clifford A. Gray and Olive Jennette Thompson Gray died on Friday, June 10, 2011 at The Willows.
She was the widow of the late Charles Martel Hale, Sr., of Winchester, Virginia, a retired Special Agent with the F.B.I. Mrs. Hale is survived by her son Charles Martel Hale, Jr. of Winchester.
Mrs. Hale was a member of the Kernstown United Methodist Church, a member of ARC/WSV, a member of the Autism National Committee, and a former member of the Founding Chapter of Grafton School’s Northern Shenandoah Valley Advisory Board.
For Many years, Mrs. Hale was an advocate of the Mentally Retarded and the Developmentally Disabled, both on Long Island, New York and in Winchester, Virginia. In 1999, she and her son Charles co-authored a book titled “I Had No Means to Shout!” This book, dealing with the Facilitated Communication technique used by non-verbal and speech impaired individuals, was endorsed and highlighted by the Autism National Committee.
A memorial service will be held at Kernstown United Methodist Church on Tuesday at 2:00 P.M. and conducted by Reverend Clay Knick and Tom Berlin. Private burial will be at Shenandoah Memorial Park.
Honorary pallbearers will be the Shenandoah/Potomac Society of Former Special Agents of the F.B.I.
