Mary Jane McNulty Getz, 77, of Gerrardstown, West Virginia, died Tuesday, January 26, 2016, in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.
Mrs. Getz was born in 1938, in Baltimore, Maryland, the daughter of the late John and Jane McNulty. She was a devoted Mother and Wife and attended Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Winchester, Virginia.
Mary Jane had a zest for life whether as a flight attendant before her marriage, skiing in the German and French Alps or supporting her husband’s career. She was a world traveler and had the honor of meeting many world leaders and dignitaries. Mary Jane had a passion for history, painting and cooking and she dedicated years of volunteer service to organizations such as the American Red Cross and various Republican Women organizations. Her memory will be loved and treasured.
She married Lieutenant Charles Edward Getz on December 19, 1959, in Fort Benning, Georgia.
Mrs. Getz is survived by her husband, Brigadier General Charles E. Getz, her daughters, Holly Getz Grange and husband, David, of Wilmington, North Carolina, Pamela Getz Bell and husband, Kerry, of Kennesaw, Georgia, Jane Getz Hammer and husband, Todd, of Land O Lakes, Florida, Lauren Catherine Getz of Winchester; son, Charles Edward Getz, Jr. and wife, Alison, of Lithia, Florida; 7 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren as well as two sisters and three brothers and many extended family members and close friends.
The family will receive friends on Friday, February 12, 2016, from 6:00-8:00 PM, at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM, on Saturday, February 13, 2016, at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church with Father Stanley J. Krempa officiating. Interment will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Friday, February 19, 2016, at Fort Mitchell National Cemetery, Fort Mitchell, Alabama.
