Mary F. Hodson, 85, of Winchester, Virginia passed away Sunday, December 24, 2017 at Evergreen Health and Rehab Center.
Mrs. Hodson was born in 1932 in Clear Brook, Virginia, the daughter of the late William and Golden Fishel. She graduated from Stonewall High School, Class of 1950, where she was very active in sports, especially softball and basketball, and was voted most athletic; and loved watching major league baseball. She also enjoyed bowling. Mrs. Hodson retired from Fabritek in 2014. She was a member of Little Mountain United Methodist Church where she was a member of the Ladies Ministry. Faith and family were everything to her. She was always taking care of her family and living for the Lord.
Her husband, Charles Herbert Hodson, Sr., whom she married on February 25, 1954 in Hamilton, Virginia, preceded her in death.
Surviving are grandchildren, Eric Hodson, Jessica McFarland (Michael), and Dickie Hodson; three great grandchildren; and many loving nieces and nephews.
Along with her husband, Mrs. Hodson was preceded in death by a son, Jeff Hodson; stepsons, Pat, Junior and Rick Hodson; sisters, Ruby Lingwall and Ann Reynolds; and brothers, Charles, Ralph, Thurman, Robert, Roy, Richard, and John Fishel.
A gathering of family and friends will be from 6 pm to 8 pm on Thursday at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11 am on Friday at Little Mountain United Methodist Church with Reverend Penny Pelter officiating. Interment will be in Little Mountain Church Cemetery, Frederick County, Virginia.
Serving as pallbearers will be Garvin Fishel, Gary Fishel, Mark Fishel, David Fishel, Dennis Fishel, Steve Fishel, and Ricky Fishel. Honorary pallbearers will be Dickie Hodson and Christian Hodson.
