Mary Ellen McKay (90) passed away peacefully on Saturday March 22, 2025, in Winchester, VA.

She married Robert Parr McKay on the 27th of January 1956 and shared 38 years of marriage until his passing in 1994.

Born in Kernstown, VA on June 17, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Robert Lee Conner and Margery Russell (Ritenour) Conner and was a member of Opequon Presbyterian Church.

She is survived by her sons Larry (Judy) McKay and Jerry (Debra) McKay both of Stephens City, VA, a sister, Nancy (Leon) Henry of Albin, VA. She has a granddaughter, Ashley McKay, grandson, Brad McKay, and three step-grandsons Zach, Derek, and Mathew Jobe in addition to numerous nieces and nephews.

Predeceasing her in death are sisters Louise Shade, Shirley Shumaker, Helen Funkhouser, brothers Clarence Conner, Robert Conner and Harold Conner.

Mary was a proud member of the Shawnee Volunteer Fire Co. Ladies Auxiliary for 25 years supporting members and the community through various activities including fundraising and working in the kitchen during bingo. She was an active member of Eagles 824 for 29 years where she enjoyed the Auxiliary and social events.

A visitation will be held for Mary on Thursday, March 27, 2025, at 11am with a service to follow at 12pm all held at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel. Interment will be on Monday, March 31, 2025, at 11am in Shenandoah Memorial Park. Pastor David Witt will officiate.
