Mary Elizabeth (Salyers) Matthews, 59, of Winchester, VA, passed away on Saturday, November 4, 2023, at Winchester Medical Center, with her family at her side.

Beth was born in 1964 in Prince William County, VA, the daughter of the late Abraham Salyers and Phyllis Salyers. She earned her Associate’s Degree and went on to work as a caregiver in Healthcare. Beth enjoyed camping, making people happy and most of all loved spending time with her family and grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, James Allen Matthews, whom she married on January 25, 2013; daughters, Tanya Thacker (Brandon) of Winchester, VA, Jennifer Dunn of Winchester, VA, Candace Montgomery of Leesburg, Al, Alysha Porter (Stefan) of Winchester, VA and Bridgett Campbell (Chase) of Inwood, WV; grandchildren, Haley, Eli, Bri, Trey, Jordan, Blake, Quinton, Trevor, Skylar, Austin, Dylan, Kaylee, Braysen, Marilyn, Brice Lee and Kash; great-grandchildren, Maleigha, Wesley, Tobin and Willow, along with her beloved canine companions, Stormy Gayle and Orville James.

A visitation will be held for Beth on Thursday, November 9, 2023 from 6pm to 8pm with a service the following day, Friday, November 10 at 1pm all held at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel. Interment will be in Shenandoah Memorial Park.

We love and miss you Miss Mary. See you in the great resurrection morning with all the loveones!

I am saddened to hear of Beth's passing, and her pain and suffering with cancer. I met Beth when I lived with my Sister Karen Salyers and my Brother-in-Law Terry Salyers. I could see the love she and Jimmie had for my niece Marilyn. Beth and Jimmie had fun parties, as I was able to attend one of them. Beth took care of her Mom and Dad until they passed away. Beth, I know, will be greatly missed by all who loved her and knew her. May God richly bless your family and may He wrap His loving ❤️ arms around you in the days and weeks ahead. May He give you courage to go forward, as Beth would want you to do.

Grammy, I will forever be blessed you were my grandma! You are every shinning star I see, when the sun hits me I feel you. You give me signs and I see them and I’m forever grateful for them. I’ll miss you’re beautiful face forever and your smile but that contagious laugh will be the thing I miss the most. I hope you’re flying so high with mawmaw and everyone else up there. I can’t wait to see you again ?
